Staten Island LGBT CenterThe Staten Island LGBT Center is an initiative of Community Health Action of Staten Island. The Center located at 25 Victory Blvd. at the corner of Bay Street, on the third floor, features many programs for the lesbian and gay youth of the Island. Friday, June 18, the center will sponsor their first Gay Prom for kids aged 15 to 20. It is co-sponsored by the Gay Straight Alliance of Staten Island Technical High School.
Despite recent intolerances elsewhere, New York continues to set an example for the rest of the country when it comes to adolescent LGBT acceptance. If you’ll recall seniors Charlie Ferrusi and Timmy Howard at Hudson High School in Hudson, NY made history by being crowned King and Queen at their prom.
Thank you New York!
